Progress in quantum gravity: rigorous results and the possibility of experimental tests
By Lee Smolin, Perimeter Institute
The basic results of loop quantum gravity are reviewed, with an emphasis on rigorous results demonstrating that the theory is finite and well defined non-perturbatively, both canonically and through the spin foam formulation of the path integral. I will also review the status of predictions for Planck scale experiments including possible violations of the GZK bounds which may be observed in AUGER and possible variations of the speed of light with energy, observable in the GLAST gamma ray observatory.
