Prospects of discovering MSSM Higgs bosons with tau leptons and a single b quark

By Rahul Malhotra, University of Texas at Austin

We study the discovery potential for neutral MSSM Higgs bosons produced at the CERN Large Hadron Collider with a single b quark followed by Higgs decay into tau leptons. Realistic acceptance cuts and efficiencies are used to calculate the background from b τ+ τ-, j τ+ τ- (j=u,d,s,c,g), W+2j, t t and b b g production. Promising results are found for the CP-odd Higgs (A) and the heavier CP-even Higgs (H) with masses up to 800 GeV.
