Axion Dark Matter Search
By Leanne Duffy, University of Florida
I briefly review the properties of dark matter axions. Axions in the galactic halo can be detected by microwave cavity experiments. Late infall of dark matter onto the halo of the Milky Way galaxy enhances the opportunity to detect axions on Earth. The high-resolution channel of the Axion Dark Matter eXperiment (ADMX) is designed to take advantage of this opportunity. I describe ADMX, focusing on the new high-resolution channel, and present preliminary results from the first analysis of data from this channel.
